Once again another successful year! Three fellows have completed their ACGME-accredited Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine Fellowship at New York Blood Center. The Fellowship is in collaboration with the Departments of Pathology at Columbia University Medical Center, Weill Cornell Medical College, and Northwell Health.

Susmitha Edappallath, MD
Dr. Edappallath obtained her medical degree from Calicut Medical College in Kerala, India. She completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at Baystate Medical Center, Tufts University School of Medicine. She plans to take her knowledge back to her homeland of India to improve the health of that community.

Stuart Weisberg, MD, PhD
Dr. Weisberg obtained his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He completed a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biophysical Studies and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Microbiology, also from Columbia University. Dr. Weisberg was just awarded a highly competitive 2017 National Blood Foundation Scientific Research Grant and will be an Assistant Professor at Columbia University School of Medicine.

Edward Yoon, MD
Dr. Yoon obtained his medical degree from UMDNJ-New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Yoon completed an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School. He will be an Assistant Professor in Transfusion Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine where we know he will shine bright.
