GiveBloodNYC Sweepstakes - FAQ

Who is eligible to participate in the sweepstakes?

All legal residents of New York City and the tri-state area, age 16 or older (entrants under 18 years old need parental consent to accept prize) who complete sweepstakes entry form at nybc.org/GiveBloodNYC.

Employees, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents, and distributors of NYBC and/or their immediate family members or members of their households are not eligible to participate.

Employees of the City of New York are eligible to participate except for employees at certain agencies of the City of New York who had an active role in creating, administering, and promoting this sweepstakes at the Office of the Mayor, Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

All entrants must have a valid address, phone number and email address.

Where do I go to donate and participate in the sweepstakes?

Find a convenient donation location in NYC only by searching via zip code at nybc.org/zipsearch

Why isn’t there a blood drive near me?

One of the reasons for the chronic deficit in blood donations during the pandemic is that fewer organizations, businesses, schools and community groups are hosting drives.  Individuals that want to support this special campaign can donate their space to host a blood drive during the sweepstakes.

What if I am ineligible to give blood, platelets or plasma?  Am I required to donate anything, such as blood, platelets, or plasma to participate in the sweepstakes?

If you plan to present to donate, you must make an appointment at a NYC donor center or blood drive.  If you are ineligible, you may still enter the sweepstakes at nybc.org/DonateBloodNYC.

How many times can I enter to win?

You can only enter to win once.  However, to help NYC, you can donate blood (red blood cells), platelets, or convalescent plasma multiple times during the period of the sweepstakes.

What will the City or NYBC do with my personal information?

The City and NYBC will collect the name, address, phone number, and email address of prize winners for the purpose of fulfilling the prize and NYBC will keep information associated with the donation for future contact.

What are the odds of winning a prize?

Odds of winning the prize depend on the number of eligible entries received.

What are some of the prizes that I can win?

There are 50 total prizes, including Jets 2021 Opening Day tickets, a 1-year supply of donuts from Krispy Kreme, dinner for 4 from Great Performances, gift cards, ferry passes, a gift package from the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, a 1-time Executive Pass to the Empire State Building Observatory, and a 1-time pass to the Top of the Rock Observation Deck.

When will I know if I have won a prize?

An announcement will be livestreamed every Monday at 10:00 am, beginning 12/7/20 - 1/4/21 at NYBCe and will include all who entered the sweepstakes at nybc.org/GiveBloodNYC.  10 winners will be randomly selected along with 10 non-transferrable prizes.  Those who do not win a prize will rollover to the following week’s pool. Winners will be announced on social media and contacted via phone or email.

How can I collect my prize?

NYBC can either mail your prize or you can stop by a NYBC location to pick it up.
